Since we opened in 2020, we’ve put on a great Christmas for the people of Malpas and Cheshire, and we only get better every year. At the end of November, the pub dons beautiful yuletide decorations (much more than just a Christmas tree) and our log fires are always roaring away, making us the perfect setting for your annual festive get togethers with family, friends, or colleagues.
We have a dedicated, heated event space known as the Brereton Suite which makes us not only one of the best pubs to visit in Cheshire this Christmas, but also a great place to host your yuletide celebrations. Parties and corporate events are our bread and butter, so if you’re planning your next do – let us know.
Not only this, but we work all year round on perfecting the ideal festive menu for Christmastime. This year, our chefs will be serving up food such as turkey spring rolls, festive burgers, seasonal pies and mushroom and spinach wellington. On our dedicated Christmas menu, you can expect turkey with all the trimming as well as a nut roast for the vegetarians and vegans (it’s quite famous locally – ask one of our regulars!).

Our Christmas Events
Sunday Lunch With Santa – 3rd and 17th December, 12pm to 4pm
Experience the magic of the season with Sunday Lunch with Santa. Your kids are invited to an enchanting encounter with the big man himself, receiving a special gift to cherish. Admission is free, but reservations are required for dining because we’ll be fully booked!
Christmas Film Extravaganza – 10th December, 4pm to 8pm
Embrace the cinematic enchantment of our Christmas Film Extravaganza. You and your family can enjoy the heart-warming tale of ‘The Grinch,’ followed by the adult favourite, ‘Bad Santa’ (no kids to this one though please!). Admission is free. Our cinema room will open at 7:30pm. The bar will be open, and popcorn will be available, of course!
Carols With One Achord – 19th December, 7pm
Savour the sounds of the season with Carols by One Achord. The Lion welcomes you to enjoy an evening filled with the timeless charm of Christmas carols, complemented by free mulled wine and mince pies.
Christmas Eve Extravaganza – 24th December, 7pm to 12am
Christmas Eve at The Lion promises the best party in the area, with live music and a spirited Christmas Jumper competition. The stakes are high, with a £25 voucher for the winner and complimentary drinks for the two runners-up. No admission fee, just bring your festive spirit.
Christmas Day – 25th December, 12pm to 2pm
On Christmas Day, we’ll be opening our doors for a festive hello. Join us for drinks only from 12pm to 2pm (because it’s tradition, right?).
Boxing Day – 26th December, 8am to 8pm
Extend the holiday cheer into Boxing Day with breakfast starting at 8am and regular food service from 12pm to 8pm. Reservations are strongly recommended for this delightful post-Christmas feast, we get busy but our atmosphere is unmatched!
New Year’s Eve Bash – 31st December, 8am to 1am
Bid farewell to 2023 with a New Year’s Eve Bash featuring live music from Whitley Jones. The bar stays open until 1am, and there’s no entry charge. Welcome the New Year in style with us at The Lion. It’s always so much fun.
New Year’s Day – 1st January 8am to 8pm
And finally, commence the New Year on a nice note with breakfast from 8am and food service from 12pm to 8pm. Advance reservations are recommended.
