Imagine floating down the river drinking bubbly with your loved ones, sounds wonderful right? Well, it’s possible on the River Dee in Chester.
Take a trip or rent out an entire boat for your party and enjoy the wintery sights along the banks (hopefully, we may even see some snow!) Don’t forget your sea legs!
Malpas Christmas Market
Preparations are already underway for Malpas’ annual Christmas market. Complete with local market stalls, a visit from Santa and even his reindeer! When working out how to spend those cosy dark evenings, don’t forget to support your favourite local businesses.
Visit The Famous Chester Road
A couple from Whitchurch who adorn their house and garden with Christmas lights every year are once again opening their ‘garden gates’.
Sheila and Keith Chase, who live on Chester Road, famously raise money for the West Midlands Air Ambulance, by turning their house into an outlandish display of Christmas every year and it doesn’t stop growing!
The pair have decorated their house for more than a decade and have raised over £70,000 over the years for the Midlands Air Ambulance charity by inviting people to look at the lights adorning their home and driveway.
Why not take a nice Christmassy walk with your family then pop into The Lion to warm the cockles?
Escape rooms
This is a great one for ‘organised fun’. A tried and tested team building exercise that never fails to surprise. There are two escape room companies to choose from in Chester (which is just 15 miles from The Lion), each with a wide range of themed rooms and ability preferences. Escapism even have a Christmas themed room during the holidays!
See the lights
Just over 10 minutes in the car from us, Bolesworth hosts a beautiful Christmas lights display which was GREAT last year. Their incomparable enchanted trail returns for 2022 featuring an all-new route, a spectacular light show incorporating the castle itself and a unique water display on the lake too.
New for this year, you can also look forward to a spectacular fairground, Christmas markets featuring shopping, food and winter warmers, Santa’s magical grotto, reindeer encounters and an exclusive champagne experience; there’s snow better place to get into the seasonal spirit!
Winter Walks
If you’re in the mood for something right on our doorstep in Malpas, then why not embark on a walk through some of our beautiful surroundings? With the weather we’re having right now, it may even be blanketed in white – so remember to wrap up warm!
If you are unfamiliar with the trails around Malpas, just ask a member of staff and we will be able to guide you to the perfect trail for you. Don’t forget to bring along your four-legged friends too, they’re always welcome here!
