We’ve had many customers enjoy bed and breakfast stays at The Lion for a few years now, and if you’ve ever stayed in one of our cottages in Cheshire, you’ll probably recognise the larger building on the courtyard which was once an intended breakfast area and breakout room.

Well, we have some news about that very cottage, because we’ve decided to make it bigger and better and bring you a truly special offering in the heart of the Cheshire countryside!

Our worker bees have been busy and we’ve completely transformed that very building into a three-bedroom cottage with a downstairs living area. Ideal for staycations, and as a place to stay for wedding guests in the Cheshire area too!

Transformed into a quiet retreat from our pub,  when you open the doors of the newly named ‘Tudor cottage’ you’ll find a cosy living area with a sofa bed and warming log fire, a meeting or dining room that seats up to ten people, and 3 bedrooms upstairs.

A Closer Look Inside Our New Cheshire Cottage

When we shared the news of our new cottage in Cheshire, we got plenty of lovely feedback on social media, but also caught the attention of the likes of Cheshire Live and the Chester Standard too. Naturally, we’re extremely proud to be bringing such an exciting addition to Malpas.

So let’s take a look inside, shall we?

When designing the cottage, we kept our customers in mind. This charming rustic building will now sleep up to six adults and three children. All of the bedrooms have en-suites, giving everyone their own space.

We had such a wonderful response when The Lion was renovated and guests love the interior design of the bedrooms, so we wanted to keep the theme running throughout our cottage too.

Tudor Cottage has a timeless and rustic flare seen throughout, giving guests that cosy cottage atmosphere that can’t be beaten. In keeping with this rural theme, we added a snug with an open fire, a record player, and some board games. Sounds like the ideal relaxing evening to us.

At The Lion, we believe in spending time together with friends and family, so just adjacent to the snug we transformed our old breakfast area into a generously sized family and living room.

The building has been designed in a way to cater for a wide range of guests, including large families, wedding parties and even business trips (because yes – the best way to treat your employees is a trip to the country!). For this reason, the dining area has comfortable seating for ten people, with a snazzy coffee machine. We also have a unique treat in store for our guests upon request: a fully equipped bar!

Getting to our cottage is pretty simple, it’s located within our courtyard just a few steps from the main pub, but with an entrance on the high street. There’s ample private parking for our guests.

Planning a trip to see us? Great idea! The Lion has fabulous access links to North Wales, Cheshire, and Shropshire, giving our guests a range of ideas to organise. We definitely recommend a look around Three Wrens Gins’ new distillery at Combermere, Cheshire Oaks, and Carden Park Spa. The area of Malpas also has beautiful scenery which guests can explore on the walking and cycling routes.

Tudor Cottage already has gained interest! So much so, that bookings have been made right through to 2023! If we have piqued your interest, keep an eye out on our website, and The Lion’s Facebook and Instagram, as availability for winter 2022 may become available. Or if you’re just too keen to stay with us, then you can check availability in our other rooms on our website now.
