At The Lion, did you know we’re fortunate to be able to host a variety of events in our elegant Brereton Suite? We offer our doors to anyone desiring to use the event space for their celebration, from birthday parties to wedding celebrations! The décor is even maintained minimalistic on purpose so that you can decorate it anyway you like.
With the suite holding up to 60 people depending on your layout, it’s no surprise that The Lion is a popular small wedding venue in Cheshire – we’re lucky to play host to a number of occasions here. Wedding Trends For 2022/2022
Intimate weddings
Intimate weddings have many advantages. First and foremost, a smaller wedding means a smaller budget (which in turn means more money for the honeymoon, right?!). You can significantly reduce your meal and table wine costs – and you have more freedom to choose the menu you truly want. From invitations to table decorations, there aren’t many parts of a wedding where fewer guests can’t equal less cost.
It’s easier to speak to all your guests when you have a short guest list too, and it’s in no doubt less stressful and more pleasurable to relax and celebrate with your friends and family.
Weekday weddings
Okay, we understand that when you initially pictured your wedding day, it probably wasn’t on a Monday. But, from what we’ve seen, weekday weddings are set to become a whole lot more popular. A weekday wedding offers several advantages over a weekend celebration, including:
- If you have your wedding on a weekday, your venue and vendors are more likely to be available, allowing you to maintain every detail of your dream day.
- Choosing a weekday for your wedding is one of the most cost-effective options. The price difference between weekend and weekday venue hire is nearly usually significant enough to persuade couples to marry on a weekday.
- Picking a weekday wedding to reduce the odds of your guests having to choose between your wedding and another couples, or being otherwise engaged. Choosing a less popular (but no less amazing) date enhances the chances that all your friends and family will be able to attend.
- Though its likely your guests will have to take some time off work to enjoy your day with you – they can get a holiday out of it themselves if they stay overnight and take the next day off too!

And finally, though intimate celebrations are a big trend we’ve noticed, along with couples opting for midweek weddings, we’ve also been keeping a keen eye out for what décor our guests are choosing to opt for in 2022.
Styles are always inspired by pop culture, and in particular, Netflix’s smash show Bridgerton is no exception. Prussian blue tones, puffed sleeves, and plenty of bows are featured in this British drama. ‘Royalcore’ has become a popular design option for 2022/2023 weddings. Fancy getting involved? Why not consider naming customs that play into the plot, such as the “Duchess Table,” to make the most of the regency era inspiration? As we said before, The Lion’s elegant Brereton Suite is fully customisable – making it simply perfect for a regal wedding!
